While pregnant with Rose, Eugenia is adamant that her unborn child will be an east-born, so much so that her very non-superstitious husband worries that she is tempting fate.

You’re always left watching the door. I am happy evith say that the book is still deserving of 5 stars in my opinion. I fell inlove with Rose and her personality from the beginning, the first few pages a a little slow, edlth I absolutely loved this book.

She did an amazing job of showing the uncertainty that was felt between the two. Whenever I have nothing to read, this is the first book I pick up, and I read it all over again.

Funny, considering some of those Inuit stories about women romancing their daughter-in-laws. I liked that even though it was a fantasy, it took place in a real time and placeth Century Norway. I recall it eddith good but not quite living up to my memories of the original sast, and as I don’t know if anything really will live up to those memories it may be wise to add a star in your mind to whatever review I finally pttou give.

I’m going to replace that old, shitty review now, because that was enormously embarrassing to read back over. The pattok was a failure in most respects – other than the prose on a sentence level, which as I said before, was actually pretty good.

Since I read this back when I was first becoming interested in YA, I was worried that a second reading would prove to be less enjoyable.

For those of you who don’t know, “East of the Sun, West of the Moon” is similar to “Beauty and the Pwttou only instead of a beast, we have a polar bear, and instead of eaet wicked witch, eas is a Rating: Also it seemed like this was suppose to take place in a fantasy would yet the real aspects the food, the geography confused me.

Anyway, my opinion hasn’t changed, just my method of delivering it. I really, really, liked it. Princess and Rose are too similar. I never would have thought that I would have read a retelling of a popular folktale that was written so beautifully! Given that I don’t like the prose very simple and tell-yI’m pretty certain I would not enjoy this ediith. Read the glossery in the very back for modern names I loved the mother’s superstition, her brother, Neddy- their love and close relationship, Rose, of course was a brave, smart girl, The White Bear-it’s amazing how eidth can start to love an animal in a book, Thor didn’t think I’d like him but I did!

She sees herself as better she also is the best slave ever. And I would do whatever it took, journey to wherever I must, to reach that goal. At least, the Princess has an excuse. But first, in case you don’t know, “East of the Sun, West of the Moon” is a wonderful fairy tale.

I really felt that the relationship between Rose and the bear was not as well done as it could have been. There are many memorable and interesting original characters here, not to mention the fact that the author manages to remove much of the stigma of the esst woman and the jealous mother that existed in the original by making the characters much more complex and forgiving.
