It encourages us in the First Canticle to join together in praising the Lord and to lead a life of repentance, as it recounts the crossing of the Red Sea symbolizing the baptism to get to a new life of repentance.
We have defeated the devil through the singing of this hymn! The answer to this is very simple; it was through grace that we stood before our Lord. The passion of adultery is extinguished by the songs of the Psalms, and the beauty of the tunes.
